Welcome to the Elementary School at Canadian Bilingual School! Our elementary school welcomes students from grades 1 to 5. Building strong foundational skills is vital for student success and the central focus of our primary program is to extend and refine the core skills and strategies learned in kindergarten. Our English instruction in language, math, science, social studies, art and physical education is designed to create knowledgeable and effective second language speakers, readers and writers.
As a bilingual school, we also provide a strong Arabic language program to ensure that our students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to develop fluency in speaking, reading and writing their first language. Islamic instruction carefully follows a Ministry program designed to help young learners to learn about and understand its values and traditions. Kuwait Social Studies is also taught as per Ministry of Education regulations in the Arabic language to students of Grades 4 and above.
At CBS we also offer opportunities for our students to learn outside of the traditional classroom. Our physical education, computer and library programs are designed to strengthen and broaden both mind and body.
Evaluating learning is a necessary and on-going part of the curriculum. Regular assessments enable teachers and students to monitor progress and modify instruction accordingly. In addition to a variety of classroom assessments, students also complete standardized MAP testing to assess their skills and knowledge in English, Math and Science.
As a parent, you are the first teacher your child sees, and your foundational teachings are an important building block to your child’s growth and development. A strong parental involvement and relationship with school is vital to the overall success and achievement of your child and we welcome you as a strong advocate both for your child and within our school community. Please connect with us regularly so that we may work together to create the best possible learning environment for your child.
