اللغة العربية

Learning a second language can sometimes pose difficulties, especially for students who have had limited or interrupted schooling in their first language. As a result, they can sometimes find themselves falling behind their peers which can affect their self-confidence and self-esteem. To support English as a Second Language (ESL) students at CBS, we offer both in-school and after-school ESL support.

In-school ESL Support

Working with the classroom teacher, our qualified ESL teachers focus on providing small-group instruction in the core elements of phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and writing. While much of the instruction takes place within the classroom, there may be short periods of time when students are withdrawn to provide more intensive instruction and support

CBS Support Academy – after school intervention support

Our after-school intervention program offers additional support for students, as identified by teachers and/or parents. This support is intended to build on the foundational skills introduced in the classroom setting. Students continue to develop Language and Math skills in this program, led by the homeroom teacher with an effort to bridge gaps and improve the performance of students and be able to raise them to the appropriate levels of achievement.

Schedule

Days - Three days a week - Sunday to Tuesday 2.35 to 3.15 pm.

Selected students will be given after school intervention support on a monthly basis until informed by the teacher.

Parent Communication

In the first week, teachers will inform the parents of the students who will be in intervention program.

Parents will be informed of their child's performance at the end of the month and be given steps to support him/her at home.

In the case of a child being removed from the program, parents will be notified the same day.

Student Attendance

The teachers will remain with the participating students during the class.

If any student has not attended 2 classes consecutively without a valid reason, they will be taken off the program. The parent will be informed of this.

Goal Setting
