The Canadian Bilingual School ‘boutique’ model is unique in that there is an emphasis on relationships. As a smaller school community, students and parents can develop relationships with all staff and staff interact more easily with all students throughout the day thereby creating a secure and supportive environment for student learning and overall development. Community spirit is encouraged in our school, by providing extra-curricular and cross-graded activities that foster academic, personal and leadership skills for our student’s future success.
International mindedness is a view of the world in which student’s see themselves as part of the wider world and become aware of the inter-connectedness of all nations and peoples. It is important for our students to learn about their own culture and history and also develop a global understanding and appreciation of the diversity of cultures in the world. We offer many programs and opportunities for our students to learn and celebrate cultures around the world and development their cultural competencies in understanding the diversity of people and cultures in the world.
First and foremost is our commitment to being a bilingual school that offers an excellent balanced literacy program in English and an enriched Arabic language program to ensure our students develop high levels of competency in both languages. CBS has also adopted the American Common Core curriculum to provide a more internationally benchmarked curriculum that will better prepare our students for graduation and entry into higher institutions of learning all over the world. The Common Core curriculum also focuses on developing student’s critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed for future success.
